## macOS

Requires an Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or later) running macOS 13.3 Ventura or later.

1. Download `DocGraph-mac-apple-silicon.dmg` from [docgraph.app/dl/mac](https://docgraph.app/dl/mac). It always gets the latest version.
2. Open the disk image and drag **DocGraph** into your Applications folder.
3. Launch DocGraph from Applications.

## Intel Macs, Windows and Linux

The first release is for Apple Silicon Macs only. Intel Macs, Windows and Linux are coming later, after they have been fully tested.

## Updates

The daily update check is on by default: the first check comes a while after launch, then at most once a day, as a single request that shows on the network badge and in the Activity log. To stop it, turn off **Check for updates automatically** in **Settings → General → Updates**; then a check only happens when you click **Check for updates** there. Updates are cryptographically signed and verified before installing.

If automatic checking is off, DocGraph asks once, in a banner under the title bar: *Let DocGraph check for updates automatically?* **Turn on** or **×** (no thanks). Either answer is final.

### Install an update

When a new version is out, a bar appears under the title bar: *DocGraph X is available*, with the release date. Its buttons:

| Button | Does |
|---|---|
| **What's new** | Shows what changed in that version |
| **Update** | Downloads and installs it, with the progress in the bar |
| **Skip this version** | Stops offering this version; the next one is offered as usual |
| **×** (Later) | Hides the bar for now |
| **Restart now** | Appears once the update is installed. Restart to finish |

**Check for updates** in **Settings → General → Updates** does the same by hand. It tells you when you're already on the latest version, and offers **Install and restart** when you're not.

### What's new after an update

After a feature update, DocGraph opens a *What's new* tab once, describing the changes. Its screenshots come from docs.docgraph.app. They load by themselves while automatic update checks are on (the default); otherwise click **Load screenshots**. To stop the tab opening by itself, turn off **Show release notes after an update** in **Settings → General → Updates**. You can open it any time from **Help → Release Notes**, the **Show Release Notes** command, or **What's new in this version** in Settings.
